Hi, this winter I would like to remove my gauges and have them restored. Does anyone know of a reputable company to send my gauges to, and would they be able to convert my speaker into a tachometer? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having a set of 1963 gauges worked on this week. The speedo needle sticks @ 35mph and all three gauge faces are "cloudy". I drove to Foreign Speedo to drop them off and he was easily able to polish-out the haze on the clear face. They said they'd have them fixed & polished within a couple days. Don't know the price yet but they are always reasonable. I've used Foreign Speedo (http://foreignspeedoinc.com) in San Diego for 20 years and have never had problems. It usually costs $200-$250 to restore all four gauges to original & reset the odometer back to zeros. They are far less expensive than North Hollywood Speedo (http://www.nhspeedometer.com/) but you should get quotes from both so you'll have a good comparison. I know Scott Taylor likes NHS, so hopefully he'll provide a review for you. When they're finished they look like new: Tach is best bought from Bob Walton in SoCal (BobWalton@T34World.org). He's got the best available. Check out the Article on his tach in a past T34 World News (#3 I think). Call me if you want help 760 845 8447.

I've used North Hollywood Speedometer and am very pleased with the results, but as Lee says they're not cheap. You can expect to pay $100-$150 per gauge, and more if there are significant repairs required. I'm thinking about having them make me a speedo with a repro of the early 1961-style face. I agree with Lee that Bob Walton is the one to talk to about the tach. You won't be able to beat the quality and accurate appearance.

Heh, Thank you very much Lee and Scott. Both of your examples look awesome! I'll be able to get onto this in the fall, so thanks for the sources. Also... Carsten, I'll be getting in touch with you soon, as I hope you may be able to find some other interior parts I will need. I plan on driving my car for a month or so...... then the real work will begin. I plan on showing it in the before stage this year as there are no others in this area..... cheers... Wally.
