Is there a source known for the rubber gasket installed beteen the front side panels and the nose skin? Looks like a T profile, the bottom half of mine is missing and I really wanted to pull the rest of it out so that I can sandblast and prime the whole area as its all rusty underneath the rubber.

I have not built in these rubbers again . That will be a good place for water , dirt and = Rust ! So I mounted the tin parts and after that I closed the space between the parts from the outer side ( wheel side ) with bodysealer (?Right words ??) that can painted over later . So it`s perfect ant there will be no rust anymore ...!! Jurgen

Thanks guys, that was my next thought to use seam sealer. The rubber would be nice original looking but getting it back in there could be difficult. My friend down the street has a special gun to spray seam sealer for a really factory finish like modern cars have so I will use that I think.

Right , John , do this also at the little "waterboxes" under the front fenders A-Column-end . You know , the tinware under the top edge near the front-window corners . Or close the holes at the top near the front hood rubber and cut the "boxes" away ... Most old original Ghias which are not restored up to today have rust at these two complicated corners . Eliminate the reasons and you`ll eliminate the rust . Original or not - So the rust will also bee original ... Jürgen

I also used D-19 tape to seall them to the body, as the original seals were gone. By the way, what do those "little boxes" do? Mine has a drain tube on the bottom, but what is it draining?

There must be a little hole in the corner from the groove where the rubbersealing for the front hood lies . On both sides . It`s draining the water from the groove into this little boxes and then through the tubes into the wheel-area . Maybe you can see the little hole !? Jürgen

I was looking at them today after reading your reply and could not really understand how water gets in there but now I do........................What a stupid idea! I will have another look tomorow and see if mine has the hole, there is no drain tube I do know that. The little boxes don't look rusted either so maybe thats a good sign.
