Our Brazil rep Fernando has discovered a new source for the front turn signal seals in Bangkok, Thailand. They're sold through Ton who runs a vintage VW supply shop. Cost is about $10 per side. This is a new source and they have not yet been tested for quality, fit, & shipping. I don't know if they accept PayPal. But it's nice to have another source for these front seals! #341 953 165 Front Turn Signal Seal, Left US$9.80 #341 953 166 Front Turn Signal Seal, Right US$9.80 Contact Ton at baanrodvolk@yahoo.com Baanrodvolk is their VW store (www.baanrodvolk.com)

Thanks Lee. I already emailed him, looks like I will be the Guinea pig for everyone.

To add a little more frustration, Ton says he will not sell these directly outside of Thailand, but will only sell them internationally through Simon Kelly.
Simon says he does not sell them...
Perhaps once someone gets their act together we can find a way to buy their product. Frustrating.

A quick email to Simon clears this situation up (sort of). Ton produces these front turn signal seals but they are not good enough quality for Simon to consider offering them. He did not elaborate beyond that statement. Maybe Ton can sell ONLY the front signal seals (with Simon's blessing of course) to satisfy our needs until a better-quality set is offered? Allen, how about asking Ton if he'd sell you those seals directly, since Simon won't. Let us know what the results are.

I spoke with Ton in Thailand today. He is the source for the front/rear window seals and the tail light seals distributed exclusively through Simon Kelley. He said the repro seals he has were made with a slightly lower profile for the lip that hugs around the chrome base. This means some owners have said the seal doesn't seal as good as it should. That's why Simon has chosen not to supply it. Ton agreed to send me a sample so I can install it and provide an evaluation. His seals are US$20/pair vs US$95/pair from Rudiger in Germany. I'd bet Ton's shipping costs are way lower as well. So it may well be an acceptable option for those of us that can't stomach paying $100 for two tiny seals. Stay tuned ...

I requested & received samples from Ton in Thailand. I compared them to an NOS seal and found no significant differences visually (except no VW parts #s are printed inside seals). I installed the right one on my T34 and (although always a frustrating experience to get top & bottom edges all the way around the chrome base) it fits fine. I would have no reservations installing these on my T34.
Ton said he'd speak with Simon (his distributor) about offering them worldwide. Stay tuned ...

I've not heard back from either Ton nor Simon. I'll give them a shout. If you shoot me your mailing address then I'll send you the evaluation set that Ton sent me ...

That's Simon Kelley. Decent price but still more than double of the ones from Ton in Thailand.
