My engine is not getting spark and it appears to be the condenser and/or points...I haven't had time to fully deal with it yet. The previous owner had a 009 put on it and one of my friends is saying to ditch it because they cause nothing but problems.
So my question is.....for those with a 1964 1500S who are NOT using the original (and semi rare) Bosch ZV/JCU 4R3 distributor, what are you running instead? I do have the original that the previous owner gave to me minus cap and rotor that I would like to have rebuilt someday but I would like to find a reliable less expensive replacement until then.
Thanks in advance for your opinions/suggestions.

I'm using now a bosch 034 whit wacuum Its bacically 009 whit wacuum. this costs here in finland ~150€ but there are also chinese (or some other contry like that) version available for ~70€.
This has worked fine for me. only broblem is that it berely fits under the lid as I think that the original distributor is a bit shorter.

Yup, I'm running basically the thing as Timo is. I do have the OE 64 distributor, but I wasn't getting any spark out of it. I do know the rotor is the same as a later FI T-3 distributor uses, but the cap is all by itself, and hard to find. I think mine will become a display item though. Something to keep in mind if you do use the original unit, you have to remove 2 plug wires to time it, as the advance in them starts at 700 rpms.
