I noticed on my car that the headlamp housings are slightly different. Both seem to have been taken out and refitted at some stage, so it's not easy to tell which is correct. Adding to the mystery is that I have two other front ends, also with different housings.
My car is a late 1963. On the left hand side, the housing has one tab at 12 o'clock position for attachment of the chrome ring. Additional tabs are fitted with pop rivets and poor welding at about 11 and 1 o'clock positions.
On the right hand side, the headlamp has tabs at these positions originally fitted, and nothing at 12 o'clock position.
One of the front ends I have have both headlamp housings with tabs at 12 o'clock position, year unknown. The other front is also a late 1963, just weeks younger than my car, and have both headlamp housings with tabs at 11 and 1 o'clock positions.
So, which housings should I repair and refit?

My October '63 has the tabs at the 11 and 1 position, as does my spare '62 nose section.

Only at 12 position . European version I think . Maybe the other tabs are for the sealed beam lights .
