Hi ! Can anybody tell me which are the "older" door windows ? I have some with the printing from Delodur Liz. Sekurit D-93 in the lower front corner and some with the same printing smaler as above with an additional line also in the lower front corner and at last some with the big printing but D-20 in the upper corner . Thanks Jurgen
There will be the same situation with the rear pop out windows ...

Early cars had the logo for the door and quarter window glass placed at the top. My wife's '65 Type 14 has the logo at the top and my old '66 Type 34 had the logo dropped to the bottom of the glass, so I think at the beginning of the '66 model year is when the change was made.

I can't authoritatively answer your question. I'd like to see a good article on VW automotive glass, particularly as it pertains to the Type 34. In your case, I would suggest going with the finest set of matching glass you have.
The pre-'66 glass logo was printed/etched at the top, trailing edge on the driver and passenger window, and at the top, leading edge on the quarter window glass. Putting the logo at the top was also done on windshields and back window glass, the location on the driver's side for the windshield and on the passenger's side for the rear glass. The door vent window glass I've seen were all logo'ed at the front lower edge.
The '64 and earlier glass I have was supplied by Sekurit. I don't know if there was another manufacturer/supplier used for the very early cars. The logo and lettering for the Sekurit glass is rather small.
The '65 and later glass I have is all from 'Delodur Liz. Sekurit', has a larger and more detailed logo, and other than the 'D' code, is exactly the same logo regardless of the logo location.
Delodur is a glass toughening division of Flachglas Wernberg, DOT code 25. It seems that our glass was produced before a DOT code was made a requirement by the US. The D-93 and D-20 codes are some internal model codes and I don't know if they represent certain glass requirements that vary between countries, or if these are supplier codes. I checked for tinting between the D-20 and D-93 pieces and found no apparent difference. D-20 was used in the US a lot on the standard import Bugs and Ghias. It seems that Delodur is a glass toughening process that was licensed by Sekurit and this technology might have better safety qualities when shattered than the earlier Sekurit glass.
I have never seen a mixed-manufacturer set of side glass on an original car, so I think you'll generally find that the logos match, visually.
I hope others can contribute to this discussion and share information from the glass they have in their original cars.

Here's a pic of the left vent window to give us a better idea of what's being discussed. Attachments:

It seems like the first turn had the big sign at the top front end ( with "20" ) , the second series at the lower front end ( and the pop-outs at the lower rear end ) ( big all with "20"), later on the 3rd series at the same place and in the same size with the "93" from now on , and the last evolution was the smaler signet also with the "93" in it at the same place as before . I don`t have any vent-windows with a "20" on it but only with "93" in big and smal size . Any other experiences out there ? What we have to check out ist the time / year / Vin # when it changed over to the next step ... Jürgen

Thank you , Bogdan , this means to me that the earliest Type 34 had the 02 - number without Delodur and after this the range comes up like I´ve showed it above in my older post. Anybody else out there with different SIGNS ? Jürgen

My January '64 343 has the same glass as Bogdan's '62.
By the way, my windshield is marked Sekurit D45.

These markings are silk-screened to glass so it's possible to mark newer glasses (repros) with old markings. ... and now I sound like a heretic, do I? Anyway, this is a problem I've noticed too.
