Headlamps

I'm trying to resolve the absence of headlamp problem with my car (RHD '67 living in Scotland).

My car had simply got two old Austin headlamps screwed onto the body and I would like to change that!

The bodywork at the front is good and the two headlamp bowls are good and in place; but thereafter what should be there is a bit of a mystery to me!

Naturally i would like to add in the 'real thing' but RHD units seem to be like hens teeth (actually any 34 headlamps are rare), so i'm guessing i will need to create my own replicas and would appreciate any guidance (or the right parts if anyone knows an affordable source!).

I understand there is a headlamp retaining assembly into which the headlamp unit is attached, Could I use a Type 1 unit and sealed headlamps and then finish it off with the right rings (which i do have)?, Or is there a better alternative? all help appreciatd

here you see the inner ring brom both sides and after installing the light ( I`ve chromed the black ring for better resistance against rust ) .

Many thanks for the pictures, much appreciated, a quick follow up question. Does the black retaining ring screw straight into the headlight bowl, or does is screw into the type of retaing unit that i have seen for type 1 KGs? My instinct is that is screws straight into the lugs on the bowl that is welded into the bodyshell but i wanted to check. Thanks in advance - Graham

Hi Graham,

If I did the right translation I can say you're right . The black ring is screwed in a part that is welded into the headlight bowl.(See picture, on the bottom)
