The trusty welder and I and large piece of sheet metal have made it to the front of the car - hurrah! I am now fabricating the bottom of the spare wheel carrier. I wanted to check; should this be welded to the bottom of the front clip? If so I'm guessing with some spot welds and then seam seal the rest to make it watertight. As i say I'm guessing so any advice would be appreciated BW Graham

The spare tire carrier is a removable part that mounts to the frame with several 10mm bolts and has a gasket inbetween to keep the elements out.

Many thanks Lee, roughly how big should the gap be between the bottom of the carrier and the front clip? BW Graham

Not sure exactly what you need but here's a guess. The gap between the spare tire well and the red body has been captured here with a ruler. Looks like about 7/16" gap.
