The metal pipes on my 67 dual circuit car have seen better days and i plan to replace them. from what i have been able to establish, rather than metal these are now replaced with flexible blue piping. I'm a slave to safety over originality, but i would welcome any thoughts on this switch BW Graham

This is what I'm going to use on mine. I already have it here too. I'm also going to a dual circuit master cylinder for it as well (it's already been rebuilt). Just got done (yesterday) installing wide 5 disc brakes to the front too. Just got to pipe it all in now. I'll probably add 3 point seat belts before everything is all done. I am taking it to Colorado next summer for the 2012 T-3 Invasion. ;D

VW used steel pipes and those tend to rust, but usually replacement pipes are copper-nickel -alloy, it won't rust.
If you paint it (like the original pipes) it looks just like original and is safer in the long run.
For the hose from the reservoir to brake master cylinder I might also use plastic hose instead of rubber, rubber seems to age much faster.

Here's how I did mine. Works quite nice.

Hi Bob, having taken the low pressure pipes of I discovered that the rust was only light surface stuff and light discolouration. a little light sanding and some Por paint and they were fine to refit, albeit with new blue flexi pipe and master cylinder BW Graham

Well, in my case, the original line was missing, and I was converting from a single circuit to dual circuit master cylinder. So hosing it made sense to me, and I don't have to worry about the steel lines rusting. I also switched to Dot 5 (silicone) brake fluid.
