I've owned my Type 34 Ghia since June 1972. I purchased it, my first car, from a family friend who bought it from the local VW dealer. I drove it until December 1976 when it was totaled in a rear end accident. Rather than scrap it I decide that I would keep it and someday restore it. After a few false starts in the 70's, I restored an Austin Healely 3000 and purchased another Type 34 Ghia, a white '64. I sold the Healey and that gave me the funds to purchase a lot of NOS Ghia parts from VW of America. The parts guy and I were surprised that so many parts were available. We learned that if a part number was listed with a price, then it was available somewhere in the US. I bought two sets of rocker panels, inner and outer, a rear quarter panel, and rear apron, plus lots of rubber pieces. Back in the 1980's when many VW dealers were going out of business many of their manuals and parts books began to appear on the swap meet scene, so I purchased several of them. I've since sold them off on ebay and did very well. About 10 years ago I started working more seriously on the restoration and so far I've repaired all the collision damage, rebuilt the brakes, fuel system, and found a period correct Sapphire AM/FM radio. I'm now rebuilding the doors and hope to reupholster the seats this winter and have it professionally painted next spring. Attachments:

Great to hear you've found T34 World, Walter! Your 1967 M343 is looking good after all these years. We have an email discussion group as well to share parts info, get advice, and help each other out. Maybe you can list the parts you've got for sale there first.

Great work Walter. Nice to see someone taking the time to bring another T34 back to life.
