Hello All, I have a 1962 T-34 and I am attempting to install the vent window felt. I have read the tips on installing the windows/vent window. What I am running into, when I attempt to glue the felt and roll down the window then roll up and then down to bring down the felt channel, the window either is very hard to roll up or the felt is stuck. So I never get the felt all the way down. The window itself comes out of it's track. I am sometimes feel like I am going to break it. Any tips on installing the vent window felt? Also, I ruined one felt channel any tips on where to purchase a new one? Thanks, George Attachments:

Almost forgot...second question. What is this screw used for? This is at the bottom of the vent window. This is from a 1962 vent window. Is this used as a counter balance? I have to take it out in order to get it down the window channel. Do I put it back in when I get the vent window down in the door? Any advice on the two questions would be most appreciated. Thanks, George Attachments:

I think the metal door window guide is not adjusted properly to allow the door window to slide easily down the tracks. If you remove the door panel and find the rear-most door window guide, loosen the nuts & slide it back just a bit you'll find the door window slides up/down easier.
That stud at the base of the vent window frame is designed to adjust the ANGLE of the vent frame assembly so it fits properly with the upper door window seals.

Another possibilty is that you have the wrong upright felt piece. A lot of places are selling the T-1 (bug) upright in place of the T-3 part (which is narrower and fits nice in the track). I also install that felt with the door window out of the door.

Lee, Thanks for the reply. I did locate the rear most window guide and adjusted it. This didn't work. I don't know if the felt is too thick? I ruined the first one. I have ordered new ones. Ounce I get those I will try again. First I will try a dry run....trail and error. If anybody has any tips....I am all ears.
Thanks, George

Hello All, To give you all an update. I ordered new felts from B&S, after I damaged the ones I had. The new ones were thinner. They worked better. Thanks Bob for your tip. I installed the felt before I put in the vent frame into the door. This worked better. The window is still a little tough to roll up....I am chalking that up to new felt....maybe it needs to wear in?
The stud at the bottom of the vent frame. is that suppose to float free below or does it anchor in the hole that is near the area? I have not put the door panel on to see if the hole is used for something.
Please advise.

George, the bolt goes through a hole in the door panel and into the thread at the bottom of the quarter panel down piece as shown in your photograph. There should be a flat screwhead in the bolt head, us this to adult the angle of the quarter panel - tighten it to make the top of the panel got outwards at the top, loosen it to make the top got in. This adjustment needs to the place when eh door is in situ. When first setting up the door, do not slam it shut straight away, guide it into position and then make adjustments to get a good fit.
On the tight window, you could try waxing the felt lining little
