Just something I found interesting when having the seats for Jill's Ghia re-done. The shop doing the upholstery work for me called to ask about the rear seat cushion pad. There was a rectangular wedge shaped depression in the underside of the pad on the right hand side. There was no corresponding bump in the support board for the cushion and it was only on the right side. I knew from seeing Bob Heydt's early rear seat and rebuild pictures that it was clearance for the metal tray above the battery. I found it interesting that they did not change the pad mold when they changed the support board. Just left an empty space there when the seat assembled. The upholstery shop cut a small wedge of foam to fill that space for me. Just thought you might all find it interesting. Anyone know if they ever updated the mold for the pad?

That's interesting, John. Using up existing stock of rear seat pads, maybe? That's just another curious feature of owning a T34 ... making fun discoveries and uncovering the beauty of what it means to own a coachbuilt car.
What's your plan with the 1967 interior upholstery restoration, John? I realize the seats had been redone by the previous owner.

Can someone please provide the link to Bob Heydt's early rear seat rebuild ? It's in my build thread on the Samba. Here's the link to the thread. www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=412120Right off hand, I couldn't tell you where the rear seat work is though, as most of that was done over a year or so ago (probably closer to 2 years ago). I believe the wood part was started in late 2010, or early 2011, then it was adjusted a few months later, then got covered in the spring of 2012. I used a SewFine kit for the seats (front and rear). I hope that helps.
