I need info.... I changed my Ghia from 6 volt to 12 volt. Everything went fine for the first fifty miles and then my battery, voltage regulator and generator got real hot, untouchable. I ended up with burnt field coils in generater and a messed up regulator. The generator was rebuilt, voltage regulator was new, as was the battery, a Optima. I got the generator rebuilt and also a new regulator for try #2. The regulator still got very hot. I then tried a new bosch regulator, one without points. It got hot. I have now a old style bosch regulator that heats up some, but I have not put many miles on it to really check it.The wiring checked out fine. What is wrong?
